There is a difference between a reason and an excuse. A reason is a rational explanation from your perspective. An excuse is a formidable lie to get out of the situation. A lie is less manageable and creates uncertainty in a relationship. When a subject is less tangible just change the subject or apply the GREY ROCK METHOD to deal with toxic people you cannot escape.
